Then came Steve....
One day in 1974 Redwood Landing was playing
a gig at Amazing Grace and a young Saxophonist just out of
jazz school in Bloomington, Indiana sat in to jam with the
band. He played tenor and soprano sax, flute, harmonica and
congas. All with amazing proficiency. Every song he played
was transformed with his melodic and virtuso solos and accompanyments.
Redwood began a new era, one with more jazz influence, more
energy and harmonic color. Redwood Landing was now a quintet.
This change was a natural evolution for the young musicians
searching for new sounds and new harmonies. Some followers
said the band took a giant leap forward, others felt the band
had lost it's acoustic roots. But at this point there there
was no turning back.


Before long, Steve brought in his buddy, Andy
Potter another jazz and pop virtuoso on drums....more
